Our Peepaw

How can it be
We wonder aloud
Four weeks ago
He stood so proud
Ornery smile
Kind old eyes
Our Peepaw
So full of life
With shaking fists and buried heads
We scorn this life, so cruel
He still had so much more to give
It seems his time had come too soon
Peace, Lord, bring your peace
Comfort us, that we may release
This precious one into your arms
For You alone know our hearts
You’ve numbered our days
No more no less
This we surrender and confess
Speak assurance
Give us rest
Guide him now
As he goes
To be with you
To be made new!
To evermore sing Allelu
With angels gathered
Round your throne–
Lord lead him home

Lead him home.
