“Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose LIFE so that you and your descendants might live!” (Deut. 30:19)   Sharp and hurtful words flow from my mouth, angrily washing over his dry and thirsty heart-soil. Undammed, they find the lowest and most vulnerable places, saturating deeply, corroding…destroying. He turns and walks away from me… Read more »

Ok, in this post, I want to show you how I successfully removed the damaged veneer on my table (horray!). And…in case you don’t know what I am hoping to eventually achieve with this project, see my inspiration pictures from this post. Ya gotta love kind, helpful folks….like Dan, the wood-working expert that works at the Ace Hardware up the street from me. We are about a week into into our dining room set makeover project, and I wanted to show you our progress so far, and also introduce you to THE BEST paint stripper I have used to date.  If you have ever stripped and refinished a piece of furniture, you know how absolutely toxic most stripping agents are.  The fumes are seriously hazardous to yo health! Because I have 3 kiddos running around this place at all times, and one tiny infant… Read more »

Above is a photo of our new *used* dining room set, as I first saw it listed on Craigslist.  When I saw the ad last week, I couldn’t believe it–it was just the style I was looking for, and I was sure it would get snatched up by someone else if I didn’t act quick. I called the owner immediately and went out that night to see it.  A couple days later, we brought it home.  Isn’t it just lovely?  Can… Read more »

Hey friends.Want to come alongside as I tackle a new D.I.Y project? This is one I am super excited about. And a tiny bit nervous.  But mostly excited. So, here’s the deal.  We just welcomed our fourth child into the fam last month, and when I was pregnant with him, about the only thing I really wanted to change around our house was our dining situation.  For the past 2 1/2 years, we have been squishing 5 people around a 4-person round… Read more »

“You shall Love  the LORD your God  with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. These words, which I am commanding you today, shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your sons and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way and when you lie down and when you rise up. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand… Read more »

This Salad. oh, my, my.  People, this salad is your summer heat-wave culinary salvation. It is fresh, flavorful and light, packed with summer veggies, and bursting–BURSTING I tell you, with umami.  How can it be that good, you skeptically wonder, when it lacks bacon, hasn’t a shred of cheese in it, and doesn’t include a creamy calorie-laden dressing?  Trust me.  It’s magic in a salad bowl.  You will make it and want nothing else for days.  You will eat the first bowl and… Read more »

Have you tried making CLOUD DOUGH yet? This was our first attempt, and it was certainly enjoyed by the kids (ages 2, 4 and 6). I have seen many “recipes” for cloud dough which only call for white flour and baby oil, but when I saw the idea of adding a piece of crushed sidewalk chalk to it to add some rainbow-y color, I knew it would be a big hit.  We took it to another level by adding glitter… Read more »
